The backyard has finally been graded and ready for grass seed. It's only take a few years! We'll post some pictures of this journey. Tall Fescue grass will soon be growing and Rigel will have a nice yard to play in. Of course, this also means that Daddy will have almost three times as much yard to mow on a weekly basis. =)

We are excited to bring Kellan Garrett Zapata into our household. Born at 7:57am, weighing in at 7 lbs. 10 oz, and measuring 20 inches long, Kellan is another cute bundle of joy that we are excited to see in person. If you are family and/or friends of ours and would like to know more or see pictures, please email Martin at martin@martinandkim.com. Please note that there are no direct links to the site we have set up for him. --MZ

It's hard to believe that three years have gone by this fast! Kim and I celebrate our third year of marriage today. To celebrate, we had a tritip roast dinner (yum), single scoop ice cream at Baskin Robbins ($1 night), and Angel Food Cake. Only I had the Angel Food Cake, though. She's not a big fan of that particulate type of cake. Oh well, I'm eating it too =) --MZ

Rigel is 6 months old today. And Husky turns 24, so Happy Birthday Husky Starcraft! Anyway, Rigel celebrated with a few wet diapers, one or two messy diapers, peaceful naps, and a solid nights sleep! Go RZ! --MZ

Just got back from Michigan where we spent a week on vacation with the rest of the DeJong clan. What a great time. Kim got to read and talk with the other ladies and I went fishing a bunch of times. Caught lots of small mouth bass and stripped perch, most of which had to be thrown back due ot size. Lots of fun, though. Crystal Lake was very relaxing!

We'd like to thank everyone who called us checking in on the status of the Triangle Complex Fire in Yorba Linda/Brea/Anaheim Hills. We were not direct in harms way and live on the opposite side of Yorba Linda from where the fires began. We did have our fair share of smoke, though. Kim and I were able to assist a few friends in their evacuation effort and actually were able to take some of the families with their scared children to go see Madagascar 2. We were the only ones in the theater on a Saturday night. It was a very fun movie and a great chance for the kids to forget about the fires.

Luckily there weren't any homes lost among our circle of friends. Since our church cancelled the weekend services due to the fires and road closures, we had a few of those families over for brunch this morning and cooked crepes, pancakes, sausage, hash browns, and bacon. What a totally fun time! So things are returning to normal and we should have only a few more days of dealing with the smoke in the air. Yuck! But better than dealing with the loss of a home or a loved one!

I'm updating some technology stuff in the next week and the site may be down for a few days starting around 9/9/2008. Don't worry, we're not going anywhere. ;) BTW, I know we don't yet have pictures of the house or vacation on this site yet. Some pictures have been posted to Martin's MySpace page or Kim's Facebook page. After we are done unpacking we'll have some time to organize these to include on this site.

Kim and I finally got our Disney passes. We know how to put Stimulus Package money to good use! So if anyone is heading to the park in the next year, give us a call. We'll also be doing the Saturday evening Swing Dancing for those interested in that, too! It's gonna be fun...

After a few weeks of construction and new carpet/paint, we finally moved in. Thanks to those who helped us move in. What a day!

Wow! We opened escrow on the house in YL. We'll be doing inspections and evaluations over the next 10 days or so. The Pasadena residence is officially sold and we are moved out. Kim's 626 phone number has also been disconnected, so you'll only be able to contact her through her cell phone.

5/31/2008
We just finished moving the majority of the furniture and stuff from the Pasadena residence into storage in Anaheim. We'll find out Monday if our offer starts escrow on this house! Yea! Kim and I will be all moved out of Pasadena on the 5th of June! Kim will have two additional days of teaching and we'll both be going to the graduation on Friday, June 7. Then... onto the rest of our lives!!!

We just returned home after a short honeymoon to Dana Point! We'll continue to pack up our belongings in preparation for moving into a home in the near future.

While Kim's place still looks like it is on track to close on June 5, we just put an offer in on a house in Yorba Linda. Please pray that the Lord's Will be done in this matter and that we be content with whatever happens with this. But it would be a neat Wedding present!!! Jesus...hint, hint! ;)

4/5/2008
Whew! Kim's place looks like it has found a buyer. It is scheduled to close escrow on June 5th. We will continue to look for a family home in the Yorba Linda/Placentia/Brea/Fullerton/Anaheim Hills area.

We finally narrowed down our wedding date based on the location we have selected for the event. It will be held in Glendale.
